LAUNCH: NEW XTP2000 VENTILATION VALVE
Specialist Danish valve
manufacturer XTPDesign has launched a new version of the
award-winning XTP2000 passive ventilation valve, which helps
reduce a buildings energy consumption.
Now manufactured in standard
400mm lengths to fit walls between 150mm and 500mm thick, the
new valve will be available on five day despatch. Longer
versions of the valve are available as ‘specials’ for
particularly thick walls. The XTP2000 can be ordered through the
company’s website: xtpdesign.com.
For the UK market, the new
XTP2000 has a free area of 5,000mm2, giving it an
equivalent area of approximately 3,750mm2. It also
retains the unique features that won the valve Denmark’s leading
industrial design prize and is widely seen as a design icon in
terms of aesthetics, function and build quality.
The visible external parts of
the valve can be specified by the customer in either anodised
aluminium or copper. Every valve is insulated to prevent heat
loss and sound transfer in two ways. The body of the valve is
protected by a layer of insulation and, when closed, the unit is
sealed both on the inside and the outside of a building.
Additionally, there are options for pollen and insect filters.
Earlier versions of the valve
are already in use in homes and offices in the UK, Denmark and
Greenland. The new XTP2000 is easier to fit, provides smoother
operation and, as a standard-sized product, is available to
customers on shorter lead-times than the old product.
Launching the new valve,
XTPDesign managing director Torben Pryning, who is also a
practising Danish architect, said: “The new XTP2000 is the
result of significant changes at XTP.
“We have taken on a new group
of investors who are all closely involved with both product and
company development and, as we go forward with exciting new
plans for the future, our customers and XTPDesign can only
benefit from their expertise.”
Future plans are likely to
include a solar-powered motorised version of the valve for
bathrooms and kitchens. Other new directions for the company
include an increasing focus on the environmental benefits of
passive ventilation.
“Everyone at XTPDesign wants to
help make a real difference,” explains Pryning. “Nobody doubts
that ventilation is important for any number of health and
well-being reasons. Passive ventilation valves protect buildings
against the irritating problems caused by dampness and, compared
to something like opening a window, cause significantly less
heat loss whilst still providing the same benefits of clean air.
“Heat loss is a real issue when
fuel prices are rising and fuel stocks are declining across the
world.”
The new XTP2000 is manufactured
in Denmark and stocks will be held both there and in the UK.
The original XTP2000 generated
massive interest in the UK when it was first launched in 2007.
Designed by Pryning to “provide
a practical and aesthetically pleasing solution to the need for
adequate ventilation” it appealed to architects, builders and
designers looking meet the ventilation requirements of Part F of
the Building Regulations with style.
